shoestring budget

Guest post written by my buddy Aldo Mays

I logged onto http://NewYorkEnergyRates.com and got the best ( least expensive) energy provider that I could. I actually found a pretty good deal. My parents told me that they were going to pay my expenses when I moved to New York for six months while I looked for a job. After six months that was it. I was going to get nothing, nada. They were serious. When six months rolled around I was cut off. Luckily, I found a job and wasn’t forced to leave the city and move home, but not having any financial cushion has made me much more money conscience. I am trying to cut my monthly overhead anyway that I can. I no longer go out to dinner and drink with my friends every night. After work, I will run home, eat, have a drink or two at my apartment and meet my friends out. Cocktails in New York City today are about fifteen dollars. I don’t know how Carrie Bradshaw lived on her shoestring budget from her column! I guess that is why it is a fictional show!
