Brother Moving In?

Thanks for the post from Sylvester Campbell

My brother has been driving me crazy about moving into my spare room, so much so I’m actually considering it. He’s only 20 and he’s so wild, I’m not sure if I want to bring that kind of energy into my house. But I did buy this place at the height of the market and my mortgage is a strain on me financially. It would be nice to have someone else’s money helping to pay the bills and I know my parents would help me keep him in line if he became a terrible roommate! Anyway, I’ve had him looking into electric companies in dallas because if he moves here he’s going to have to pay all the utilities as well as a little bit of rent. I know he doesn’t make a ton of money at his job and he’s just starting out. The whole point of him moving into my place is to save up money and have a shorter commute - it could be an arrangement that could really work for both of us, I think. The problem is that my brother’s never been the most responsible so I’m already starting to worry about him forgetting to pay the utilities and generally just being a nuisance: leaving the door unlocked, being loud, not letting the dog out when he gets home from work. Before he moves in I’m going to have to have a long, serious conversation with him about my expectations and about the rules of the house. I know it sounds silly because he’s a grown adult and I hate to have to lay down the law on him in this way but we’re just very different! I love my brother, I really do, but sometimes I worry that if he doesn’t grow up soon he’s going to have a long road ahead of him. Maybe living with me will be a good influence on him and some of my maturity will rub off on him.

Planet Lady is Conscious

Thanks to Roman May

I’ve become really conscious of my impact on the environment since I watched a couple of documentaries on the impact of people on the planet. I really worry about the state that we’re going to leave this place for our kids and also how quickly the planet’s resources have been degraded just in the last century or so. I know it’s all part of modernization but I worry about whether or not we’re being really short-sighted when it comes to our energy and our carbon footprints. I went online the other day and looked into http://www.electriccompaniestexas.net to find out who in my area had the best record of giving back to planet-related causes and I think I’m going to make a switch. I’ve been making small but meaningful changes in my life to try and reduce my carbon footprint, personally, like switching to organic produce and turning off the heat when I’m able to burn a wood fire in my fireplace. I try to take it back to the 19th century, that’s what I say, because they knew what they were doing when it came to not hurting the planet for their own good. I don’t want to become a crazy hippie about it all, you know, with dreads and chaining myself to trees and whatnot, but I need to make sure I’m doing my part where I can and not just expecting other people to pick up my slack. It’s important to me to be a good citizen of the earth and I’m trying to make small changes in my every day life to do just that without totally changing the way I live. I like to think some of my efforts will have an impact on my friends and coworkers but who knows. Sometimes you just have to do what you know is right and hope other people follow suit. There’s nothing you can do to make others better people and that’s something you have to accept early on or you’ll drive yourself crazy!

Work's My Life

Guest post by Gerard Mcdaniel

Work has been my whole life for as long as I can remember. There’s really nothing about having an active social life that I can relate to because I work 18- and 20-hour days like it’s no big deal. I imagine most people wouldn’t like the kind of life I live but I think it’s how I’ve been able to afford my own home at 30 and really have my firm footing when it comes to savings. I know some of my peers think I’m absurd but I also know that deep down they must be a little bit jealous that I’m so far ahead in my career. I’ve always been really responsible – when I first bought my house last year I didn’t run out and buy a big screen and host a pool party. I found out some Oncor Electric Information and I called a gardener for a consultation and I had my mail forwarded from the old place, you know, responsible things to do. I think that these qualities are the ones a woman is going to find attractive in me someday because she’ll know I’m going to be a good provider and really take care of our family well. I wouldn’t want a wife that was totally flighty and I would think the kind of woman who wasn’t would want a man like me. I love that there are so many different ways for people to express themselves and mine just happens to be hard work. I’m proud of the name I’ve made for myself at my job and I really think that one day I’m going to see the fruits of my labor tenfold. I’m hoping for another promotion in the spring and soon after that, I’m going to try out for a board position. The goal is to one day have less to do and more free time so I can try to strike up more of a life-work balance. Now that I’m single, though, there’s no reason not to work myself to death.

Coming Here

Guest post written by Rolf Tate

Coming here to go to school was a big risk for me but I’m hoping it pays off in the long run. I love my classmates and I feel like I’ve been learning a lot so I think all in all it was a good choice for me, you know? Investing in your education is the best way you can make sure you’ve got the kind of future you work hard for – who wants to go to school for years and then not have a job? That’s why I think it’s important to have a job that you create yourself…being a small business owner is the only sure way out of unemployment as I see it. I wish I had a clearer picture of what kind of business I was going to be running in a few years but it’s easier said than done. There’s definitely something to be said for having a path but I like not knowing where I’m going…my options are open and I don’t have to worry about whether or not I’ve got it right!

Skip the Scam – FreeShipping.com Has It All

Thanks to Peter Williams for writing this post.

There’s absolutely no reason for any bargain-hunting enthusiast to say that he or she can’t find legit free shipping programs for their online shopping needs. Why? Because there is a website out there called FreeShipping.com. Scam artists are running and hiding from the promotional giant that has been winning the hearts and minds of its members for over ten years. And they’ve made their success by building working relationships with lots of businesses online, as well as working closely with their clientele to build the best rewards program possible.

To tell you why FreeShipping.com’s program is so great, I’ll have to explain two things: their parent company Clarus Marketing Group, and complaints resolution. Many people who get into the bargain hunting game are all about looking for the savings but have no idea that customer satisfaction policies play just as large a role in the overall value of one program versus another. Clarus Marketing has spent ten years observing the couponing and promotional industry and have thus built a rock-solid foundational philosophy from which the entire success of FreeShipping.com grows.

FreeShipping.com offers rebates for free shipping and free return shipping, plus other benefits like a lowest price anywhere on the Web guarantee – for all products bought through the program. But what really makes members love the program – and you can ask them – is that the staff are willing and enthusiastic about engaging the members. They also take an informational approach that is fair and forthright. If you’re no longer happy, you can easily call the FreeShipping.com phone number at 1-800-869-5597 or email FreeShipping.com to cancel your membership any time, free of charge, free of hassle. And, they offer a 30-day trial where you can try out all their services before buying a membership. With such little risk and such an amazing and engaging program, it’s hard to imagine not signing up.

Easter Gifts: Ideas in Making Home-Made Gifts

There are different kinds of ideas in making home-made Easter gifts. These ideas can be unique and creative as it will help enhance your skills in art if you are into it. Making home-made gifts for any occasion such as Easter holiday would be ideal as it portrays your sincerity in giving gifts to recipients. Adding your personal effort, time, and touch on the gifts you give away would make them feel extra special.

If you want to make unique and conventional gifts for Easter holiday to your family and friends, you can certainly do it. Creativity is something you need to explore as it helps enhance your art skills to make it different than the typical Easter gifts. Making old-themed or traditional Easter baskets as gifts to your loved-ones would be something that will amaze them. It also challenges you as your creativity and gift ideas will be tested. However, the end results are expected to be positive. There is no doubt about that.

Some of the things you would need to make traditional Easter baskets are materials like a gift basket, various colors of paints, foam plate, masking tape, and stencils. There might be other materials needed to make an artful Easter basket design too. You would have to design these gift baskets to make them look like colorful and attractive Easter gifts. The designs on the exterior of these Easter baskets would really depend on what type of themes you want to have for them. You should not worry about what to put inside the Easter baskets though as there are a lot of gift ideas or items you can fill them with.

One interesting and fun gift idea for Easter is filling the basket with something interesting to work on. For example, you can fill the basket with a set of things and materials to make a good handmade necklace. There are different types of necklace-making gift sets sold in store these days. You can fill the Easter basket with beads, strings, scissors, and other necessary materials the recipient may need. If the recipient enjoys making hand-made stuff then, this idea would be a good and unique gift you can give. Another idea is to fill the basket with Easter eggs that you have personally designed or colored. You can fill it with interesting and surprising stuff the recipients may like.

Preparing and making gifts to give to your family and friends during the Easter is not tough at all. You just need to choose good gift items ideal to give to the recipient based on what they like or their interests.

Vacation Home

Guest post from: Bruno Smith

My husband and I absolutely adore our vacation home. We inherited it when my uncle passed away, and we try not to take it for granted. It’s not much to look at really, but it offers our family to spend a fair amount of time at the beach every summer. That time spent together is absolutely invaluable to us. We know that our children will be grown and out of the house sooner than we think, so we are doing our best to enjoy every single second we have with our children while we can. We also love that our friends have the opportunity to spend some time at the beach without the stress of having to pay for a place to stay. There’s not a single thing that we don’t love about our vacation house, actually—the only thing about the entire situation we don’t love is leaving our primary residence unattended for so long during the summer. While we have great neighbors, there is nothing like the security of being in your own home and making sure everything is ok. Luckily, my husband signed us up for an alarm monitoring service once we started taking regular beach trips, and it’s made the entire situation so much less stressful. Do some research onSecurity Systems Sunnyvale and see if it’s something you should look into!

My Family

Thanks for the article from Isaiah Gaines

I got a Chattanooga adt security system the second I moved into my new house. I think it’s important to note that I’m a single mom and that I have a hard time feeling safe in my home – I’m just not used to living alone and now that I’m divorced and in charge of my son I worry a lot about whether we’re both secure. It’s hard being responsible for another human being and though I love this little house we bought I worry that I should have gotten a condo or something with closer neighbors to add more security. I do love being in a stand alone home, though, but you know at the end of the day I don’t think this was a bad decision. I’m still getting used to being on my own and my parents and the rest of my family has been a great support system. I can’t wait until I get to marry again and give my son a father figure but until then I’m on my own!

Peach Bowl Bound

Thanks for the post from Sylvester Campbell

Hooray, we are headed to the Peach Bowl! I no longer live in Atlanta but my parents do so I’m happy to have a free place to stay this year when I go down to cheer on my Tigers in the big game. I’m disappointed they did not make it to the National Championship Game this year but my wallet is not. Last year’s trip was expensive with tickets and hotel and food adding up quickly. This year all we need to buy are tickets because we can do everything else at mom and dad’s. And we have free babysitting s my wife and I can go out and have a fun time without the little ones. It will be a long day and a late night. Hopefully I will remember the code for their Atlanta Home Security system when we come in so we don’t set it off and wake the whole family. I’m sure we will be ready for a good night’s sleep after all the fun we have and won’t want to have to put everyone back to bed!

shoestring budget

Guest post written by my buddy Aldo Mays

I logged onto http://NewYorkEnergyRates.com and got the best ( least expensive) energy provider that I could. I actually found a pretty good deal. My parents told me that they were going to pay my expenses when I moved to New York for six months while I looked for a job. After six months that was it. I was going to get nothing, nada. They were serious. When six months rolled around I was cut off. Luckily, I found a job and wasn’t forced to leave the city and move home, but not having any financial cushion has made me much more money conscience. I am trying to cut my monthly overhead anyway that I can. I no longer go out to dinner and drink with my friends every night. After work, I will run home, eat, have a drink or two at my apartment and meet my friends out. Cocktails in New York City today are about fifteen dollars. I don’t know how Carrie Bradshaw lived on her shoestring budget from her column! I guess that is why it is a fictional show!

My Daughter's Great

Guest post written by my buddy Aldo Mays

My daughter is just wonderful and since she’s been adjusting so well to college my husband and I have been thinking about going to a realtor to see about getting a house on campus we can rent out to her and some of her friends. We’d get it all spruced up of course with aHttp://www.ALLhomesecurity.com security alarm and stuff so we wouldn’t have to worry about her but I think she’d really like to know that we are thinking of her and making her future easier. And the good thing about it would be that we could rent out the house after she graduated and continue to get rental income from it which is a definite plus in this market. I like the idea more than my husband does mostly because he’s worried she’ll turn it into a party house but I know she’s responsible and would make sure nothing happened to a property that we put out our necks for. That’s just the kind of girl we raised her to be, you know?

Yoga for Relaxation

This guest post from Lewis Beck

I have a special routine that I follow each day before heading out to yoga. Since my class is at seven in the morning, I get up and grab a quick shower so that my hair isn't sticking out everywhere. Afterwards, I get dressed in a comfortable pair of pants and shirt and take the dogs outside. I come in, feed the dogs, set my home security alarm from http://www.allhomesecurity.com/ and head out to the gym. Yoga class is probably what keeps me from losing my mind each day at work; after all, it not only helps work unused muscles, but it also relaxes my mind.

I couldn't imagine being stuck at the office for eight hours without having first visited yoga class. I still remember when my friends first mentioned that I should try yoga; I wasn't too open-minded about it. However, after one visit, I became hooked. I was so sore the following day that I couldn't believe that a bunch of stretching made that possible. I normally lift weights, but I have never been as sore as that first time I tried yoga. Now that yoga is part of my exercise routine, I feel stronger and healthier than ever before.
